I’ d like to present a project: “The Influence of Geography on People and Their Lifestyle: The Netherlands”. My project is about the Netherlands. The purposes of my project are: to tell about the Netherlands, to show the influence of geography on people’s life.
INTRODUCTION There are many countries in the world where the geographical position determines the life of people. One of these countries where it defines so much is the Netherlands. People of this country have to experience great impact of the sea and the land. People are able to use influence of the country position and benefit by it with a great success there. I think we can use this experience in our country. That’s why I decided to write about the Netherlands.
Geographical Position The Kingdom of the Netherlands is located in the North-West of Europe with territories in the Caribbean. It is a constitutional monarchy. The Netherlands is washed by the North Sea to the North and West. It borders on Belgium to the South, and Germany to the East. It shares maritime borders with Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom. The capital is Amsterdam. Population of the country is about 16 million реоple. .
Flag Coat of Arms
Coat of Аrms The image presents the great coat of arms of the Kingdom - the monarch's personal coat of arms of the Netherlands. The government of the Netherlands normally uses the coat of arms without the mantle or even just a crowned shield. At the billboard there is a lion with the sword and a bunch of seven arrows. Arrows mean seven provinces of Utrecht. The crown is the symbol of the monarchy. The words on the bottom are translated as "I bear"
Geographical Position of the Netherlands on the Map of Europe
Since the Roman Empire, the Dutch wrested the land from the sea. The first polders appeared in the XIII century, and since then along the coast a large area was drained. Major reclamation projects were implemented in 1930-1950s. Then it was created an artificial lake Isselmeer which became the largest in the Western Europe (on the place of the dry bay was formed the 12-th Netherlands’ province Flevoland). These lands are very fertile. That’s why agriculture in the Netherlands is developed very much . Agricultural lands occupy 65% of the country: crops, live-stock, horticulture, greenhouses. The Netherlands is a maritime country. That’s why there are a lot of windmills and fisheries there.
Due to the fact that the Netherlands had developed great floriculture a tulip became the national symbol of the country. The Netherlands are situated in Europe. So it is a technologically developed country. But an ecological bike became the national symbol of the country.

Working on this project was very exciting. I am satisfied because my purpose has been achieved. I have learned many interesting things. I understood that geography influences on people’s life by various ways. It can explain the history of the country, its coat of arms, national symbols, activities of people and traits of their character. It is used in economy, policy and everyday life.
