Mariana Trench - the oceanic trench in the western Pacific ocean. It is the deepest place on the Earth. Mariana Trench is called «the fourth pole of the Earth».
People tried to conquer the North and the South poles of the Earth, ascended Mount Everest for many decades, but reach the bottom of the Mariana Trench failed.
In 1951 obtained the first data on the depth, which were made of British ship "Challenger" - 10 863 m. In 1957, scientists found, that a maximum depth of the Mariana Trench - 11 022 m
