Описание слайда:

*** *** A woman's face with Nature's own hand painted Hast thou, the master-mistress of my passion; A woman's gentle heart, but not acquainted With shifting change, as is false women's fashion; An eye more bright than theirs, less false in rolling, Gilding the object whereupon it gazeth; A man in hue, all 'hues' in his controlling, Much steals men's eyes and women's souls amazeth. And for a woman wert thou first created; Till Nature, as she wrought thee, fell a-doting, And by addition me of thee defeated, By adding one thing to my purpose nothing. But since she prick'd thee out for women's pleasure, Mine be thy love and thy love's use their treasure.

Сонет № 79 Сонет № 79 *** Whilst I alone did call upon thy aid, My verse alone had all thy gentle grace, But now my gracious numbers are decay'd And my sick Muse doth give another place. I grant, sweet love, thy lovely argument Deserves the travail of a worthier pen, Yet what of thee thy poet doth invent He robs thee of and pays it thee again. He lends thee virtue and he stole that word From thy behavior; beauty doth he give And found it in thy cheek; he can afford No praise to thee but what in thee doth live. Then thank him not for that which he doth say, Since what he owes thee thou thyself dost pay.

*** *** *** Moscow! Thou limit of his long career, Москва! For which rude Charles had wert his frozen tear То see in vain - he saw thee - how? With spire And palace fuel to one common fire. То this the soldier lent his kindling match, То this the peasant gave his cottage thatch, То this the merchant flung his hoarded store The prince his hall - and Moscow was no more! Sublimest of volcanoes! Etna's flame Pales before thine, and quenchless Hecla's tame; Vesuvius shows his blaze, an usual sight For gaping tourists, from his hackneye’d height; Thou stand'st alone unrivall’d till the fire То come, in which all empires shall expire

*** *** *** *** *** *** Adieu, adieu my native shore Fades over the waters blue, The night - winds sigh, the breakers roar And shrieks the wild sea - mew. Yon sun that sets upon the sea We follow in his flight Farewell awhile to him and thee My native Land-Good Night A few short hours and he will rise То give the Morrow birth And I shall hail the main and skies, But not my Mother Earth. Deserted is my own good Hall, Its hearth is desolate, Wild weeds are gathering on the wall, My dog howls at the gate.

STANZAS STANZAS When a man hath no freedom to fight for at home, Let him combat for that of his neighbours; Let him think of the glories of Greece and of Rome, And get knocked on his head for his labours. To do good to mankind is the chivalrous plan, And is always as nobly requited; Then battle for freedom wherever you can, And, if not shot or hanged, you'll get knighted.
