Krakatoa
Krakatoa is a great volcano on the island of Krakatoabetween Java and Sumatra in present day in Indinesia. Island of Karakatoa
History of the volcano. On August, 26th 1883 the volcano erupted.
This photo of Krakatoa is taken on the 26th of August, in 1883 from a ship crossing the Sunda Strait.
There was rain of volcanic ash and pumice from the eruption.
Near the volcano huge masses of pumice from eruption floated in the sea.
Everything was buried under a thick layer of ash.
Plants and animal life didn’t begin in these islands for nearly five years.
Dust from the volcano travelled all around the world.
They were 15 metres high and travelled 13,000 km. There were big waves in the sea.
For three years people saw colourful bright sunsets.
There were three volcanic cones on Krakatoa.
