Kuzma Minin(?-1616) He was born in the end of the 16th century,in Balakhna. He was a merchant,together with tne Prince Dmitry Pozharskybecame a national hero in struggleof Russian people against the Poland invaders. The centralsquare of Nizhny Novgorod was named after Kuzma Minin.
Maxim Gorky(1868-1936) He was born on March 16,in Nizhny Novgorod.His real name was AlexeyMaksimovich Peshkov.He was a great Russian writer.
Valery Chkalov(1904-1938) He was born on February 2,in the village Vasilyovo, now it isthe town of Chkalovsk. He wasa Russian aircraft test pilot.He became a Hero of the Soviet Union.
Yevgeniy Yevstigneev(1926-1992) He was born on October 9,in Volodarskiy settlement. He studied intheatre college in our city and becamea Soviet movie and theatre actor. He wasone of the founders of Moscow’s Sovremennik theatreand People’s Artist of the USSR.
