Moscow is the capital of Russia Moscow is the capital and the most populous city and the most populous federal subject of Russia.

Historically, it was the capital of the former Soviet Union, Russian Empire, Tsardom of Russia and the Grand Duchy of Moscow.

It was foundedby Prince Yuri Dolgoruky.

Historians have accepted the year of 1147 as the start of Moscow's history.

The city is situated on seven hills. On one of them is the Kremlin with its beautiful red walls and famous towers.

The Moscow Kremlin The Moscow Kremlin, one of the World Heritage Sites in the city, which serves as the residence of the President of Russia. The heart of Moscow is Red Square

Spasskaya Tower The main Kremlin tower, the Spasskaya Tower, has become the symbol of the Russia.

The Russian parliament (the State Duma and the Federation Council) and the Government of Russia also sit in Moscow.

Now Moscow is the biggest and most wonderful city in Russia. There are many modern buildings, streets and bridges.

The highest point of the city – Vorobievy Hills (Sparrow Hills) is the sight for the main building of Moscow State University
