New York City is the largest metropolitan center in the USA. It is famous for the Statue of Liberty, Empire State building, United Nations, museums, Broadway theaters, Times Square etc.
New York City is located on the eastern coast of the United States about 1000 miles north of Florida and 200 miles South of Boston. It is situated at the mouth of the Hudson River, and is divided into 5 districts called boroughs. The “Big Apple” is the largest city in the USA with over 7 million residents.
The Statue of Liberty stands on a small island in the middle of the New York City harbor. It was a gift of international friendship from the people of France in commemoration of the USA centennial anniversary in 1876. The 151-feet (46-meters) tall monument stands atop a granite pedestal above the walls of a star shaped abutment.
