Задачи урока: - расширять страноведческие знания по теме; - совершенствовать навык монологической речи; - активизировать лексический и орфографический навык; - развивать мышление, умение давать оценку, высказывать своё мнение на английском языке; - расширять кругозор; - воспитывать уважение и интерес к изучению английского языка. Оборудование: компьютерная презентации по теме урока, карточки с заданием по количеству учащихся; доклады.

The United States of America The United States of America is situated in the central part of the North American continent. The area of the USA is over 9 million square kilometers. The population of the United States is nearly 250 million people. Most of people live in towns. The official language of the country is English. Other minority languages include Spanish, Italian, German, Polish, Russian, American Indian tongues, Chinese and Japanese.
Climate The surface is changeable. There are a lot of deserts, meadows, mountains in the USA. There are rivers, five Great Lakes between the USA and Canada. The weather is changeable in it.
The State symbols of the USA The USA is a federal republic, consisting of 50 states. The capital of the country is Washington. The president is the head of the state and the government. /
Chicago (Illinois) is one the biggest industrial cities in the USA.
Los Angeles is very big, noisy and famous all over the world because there is Hollywood. Hollywood is the centre of the US film industry. The most famous are Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida.

The head of the state is Queen of Britain (Elizabeth ), represented by Governor-General. The name of Governor-General is Quentin Bryce. Federal Government works in Canberra in the government buildings.
New Zealand New Zealand consists of a group of hilly evergreen islands that lie in the south-west Pacific Ocean. It has got a total area of 269,000 square kilometers. Nearly 3,5 million people live in the country. The native people is Maori. English is the official and predominant language. Maori is also spoken by the native people.

Climate The climate of New Zealand is wet. There are many rivers, lakes, mountains in the country. The highest mountain is Mount Cook. There are 3 active volcanoes in North Island. The Rotorua district is known for its geysers and hot springs.
Nature You have heard of the country’s native animals. One of them is the kiwi. This interesting bird lives in the wet areas of the thick bush. Kiwis cannot fly. The kiwi is the symbol of the New Zealand people.
CITIES There are several big cities. Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin are the country’s main ports.
Canada Canada is bordered in the north by the Arctic Ocean, in the east by the Atlantic Ocean, in the south by the Pacific Ocean and Alaska. Canada has a huge area of almost 10 million square kilometers. Nearly 26,6 million people live in the country. English and French are both official languages.
