My native town - Belogorsk is situated in the Amur region. If compared with such big cities as Khabarovsk, Blagoveshensk, Belogorsk is a small, green and the modest town. The town has an excellent placement for the following reasons: it’s near the river, the city serves as a major commercial and trade center of the region. The important railway station of the Baikalo-Amyrskaya Railroad is situated in Belogorsk. The citizens are happy to have this kind of mainstream road. For most of them it is the only way to earn for their living.

Belogorsk, one of the oldest Amur towns, was founded in 1860. The appearance of this settlement is connected with the coming of Yerofei Khabarov. In the 17th century Yerofei Khabarov undertook the expedition to the Amur River and was overwhelmed by the taiga animals: tigers, black bears, the large variety of fish and squirrels. Belogorsk is located on the left bank of the bottom watercourse Tom, in 50 km from the mouth of the Amur river. The territory of Belogorsk is about 108 km.

The nature of my town is exciting. Summer is very hot and dry. There’s nothing to do but you have a good chance to look sunburned, to enjoy sunbathing. There is a wonderful vegetation along the banks birches, oaks and cedars. The river Tom is rich of fish: pike, perch, European carp, rotan. Following Khabarov advice, people settled and developed the wild country: they’ve built bridges, roads, plants and houses. Nowadays citizens produce the black and red caviar famous all over the the world.

There are many schools, technical colleges, one gymnasium, two musical schools, one art school, two cinemas and the museum. We have a lot of opportunities to go in for sport school. There are a lot of monuments and memorial places in the town. The Troitskaya Church of Belogorsk is the oldest building. Its design is unique for the Amur Region. The town citizens in a special way treat the monument “312 Fighters” dedicated to the heroic fight with Nazi invaders.

The people of the town are very amicable and hospitable. A friendly smile is a common thing you can find on the streets, in the shops, everywhere… Amyrchane offer a friendly hospitality and specialties of the area to every newcomer, especially for Chinese people. Belogorsk has kept its character and charm, because Belogorsk is very beautiful and lovely town. The central streets of Belogorsk are green. The are no large hotels and the place has avoided the effects of mass tourism. The Belogorsk has kept its character and charm.
