Пояснительная записка к презентации “Welcome to London” Презентация по английскому языку “Welcome to London” создана с целью знакомства учащихся 5 класса (4 год обучения иностранному языку) с основными достопримечательностями столицы Соединенного Королевства Лондона. Данная презентация позволит представить новый для детей страноведческий материал в более интересной и наглядной форме. Использование презентации является средством лучшего усвоения языкового и речевого материала. В качестве источника получения информации презентация создает необходимые условия для стимулирования интереса к изучаемому языку, который можно удовлетворить самостоятельно, поскольку не требуется ни собеседник, ни слушатель. Использование презентации способствует реализации коммуникативной цели обучения, т.к позволяет формировать социокультурные знания, умение читать и понимать прочитанное, позволяет воспитывать положительное отношение к культуре другого народа, развивать механизм языковой догадки.

London sightseeing tour Hello, ladies and gentlemen! We welcome you to London. It is one of the largest cities in the world. More than nine million people live and work there. London is more than two thousand years old. It is a centre for business and for tourism.There are a lot of famous sights in London. Look at the map of London.

Trafalgar Square We start from Trafalgar Square. It is in the centre of London. On the column in the centre there is a statue of Admiral Nelson who defeated the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. One of them you can see here.
Piccadilly Circus Now we are coming to Piccadilly Circus. It is the meeting point of six streets. Byron lived at No.139. Piccadilly Circus is the centre of London’s theatres, gay with advertisement and lights.
Buckingham Palace We’ve just passed Piccadilly Circus and now we are making our way to Buckingham Palace. It is the London home of the Queen. When the flag is flying on the top she is at home. Look, they are changing the Guard! It happens every day at 11.30 a.m. in front of Buckingham Palace.

The Tower of London It was a fortress, a royal palace and later a prison. Now it is a museum. There are a lot of interesting collections in the Tower of London. The ravens are another famous sight. The legend says that without them the Tower will fall. The Raven Master is the person who gives them food.
The British Museum If you ever come to London you will certainly go to the British Museum. It is in Great Russel Street. The British Museum is a very large, light-grey building. It is one of the famous museums in the world and the biggest museum in London.
The British Museum There are a lot of beautiful collections in the museum: drawings, paintings, sculptures and ceramics. Many things came to the museum from Greece. There is a Manuscript Room there, the room where he most important documents are. You can also find very old books and maps in the museum.
Baker Street Have you ever heard the name of this street? Of course, you have. It is one of the most famous streets in London. Sherlock Holmes lived there. And now you can visit his museum, which is situated in Baker street.
