Khabarovsky region "There is no place like home"

In the middle of the 17th century the Amur basin was inhabited by more than 70 nationalities. The most numerous are the Russians. Other nationalities are: the Nanais, the Ulchis, the Udegeis,the Orochis, the Evenkis. History About the Daurs: "Some of them were involved in farming and others in animal husbandry. They grew six different kinds of grain crops . They bred different animals including horses, cows, sheep, pigs, and hens..." They hunted with bows and did not know firearms.
Climate The Khabarovsky Krai is situated on the eastern part of the continent and is not far from the Pacific Ocean. That's why the climate is various. The cold Sea of Okhotsk which is not far and the flow of cold continental air from Siberia are responsible for severe winter frosts and humid climate in short summer periods.
The nature Wonderful forests occupy the most part of the Khabarovsk Territory. There are more than 20 kinds of trees growing on one sq. kms.: birches, oaks, cedars, line trees, pine trees and fir trees. In the South you can find unique kinds of flowers that are disappearing now:lotous flowers, the Amur vine, the Manchurian walnut and the Amur cork tree. The Far Easten forests are full of different animals and birds. They are : northern reindeers, Asiatic black bears, wolves, Manchurian tigers , squirrels, foxes, hares and other animals.
The Influence Of The Climate On People Geographical position of the territory, its climate and forests with rich vegetation has great influence on people‘s lives, their activities, rest and hobbies. People are tough, not patient and not submissive. As there are many rivers, lakes and the Pacific Ocean is close, all these facts make fishing highly developed. Over 100 kinds of fish are found in fresh water of lakes and rivers.
Komsomolsk-on-Amur Komsomolsk-on-Amur was founded in 1932 . Today the population of the town is about 300 000 people. There are many nice buildings, wide streets, green parks, large squares and monuments in our town. There are a lot schools, technical schools and universities in our town.
Fried Fish 500 g – fish; 1 onion; ½ of carrot; 1 tb. sp. of butter; some salt; some parsley. First you must clean the fish. Then take one onion, some parsley and a carrot. Put all ingredients into a saucepan , add some cold water, add some salt and cook it till it is ready. Then take the fish out and cut it into big parts. Put the pieces on a plate, add some melted butter. Put hot boiled potatoes or mashed potato, or rice around the fish and enjoy your fish.
Fish Stroganina If you like unusual food you may taste the dish called ‘’stroganina’’. You must take fresh meat or fish, cut it into thin slices and put some salt ,pepper. Then mix the dish, wait for 5 minutes and then eat.
